There are three reasons why we log into our Coinbase account:
- To buy – sell – trade
- To check the price
- To make sure our account is safe
But if you can’t do any of that? If you can’t trade? Check price? Or login anymore? You panic and research.
Perhaps that is what is happening right now on several social media channels. Not everyone can log into their Coinbase account. Don’t worry:
Coinbase is not hacked. Nor is it shutting down. For now, the issue is something else:
Coinbase Is Down For Scheduled Maintenance
Yep. Simple as that.
As there is an ongoing maintenance, you will be unable to log into your Coinbase account. We will keep this post updated if there is any other reason.
January 31st, 2018: Coinbase is going offline for 30 minutes. Trading will be offline for 2 hours – meaning you can access the website but you cannot buy or sell currencies.
None of these currencies can be traded during this two-hour period: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Ethereum Classic.
In the future, always look into the website (or the Coinbase app for iOS / Android) for a scheduled maintenance message. Also, it looks like @Coinbase on Twitter isn’t tweeting these downtimes as often as required.
